An in-the-works VDC Research report, The Future of Police Fleet Computing, has led to in-depth, mobility-based discussions with police agency leaders and top public safety technology stakeholders. One of the most prominent topics to come up – fueled by cautious excitement and optimism – is the Samsung DeX platform. The mobile computing power of the average police officer has long been underserved, but many are hopeful that DeX or a solution like it will drastically cut down on traditionally prohibitive police computing costs. They also anticipate that it will help close gaps in access, connectivity and functionality that police agencies have historically struggled to give their frontline forces.
