The Future of Police Fleet Computing

Although rugged laptops, followed by two-in-one devices and then tablets, still account for the bulk of police fleet computing devices, there is a small-but-growing smartphone trend. Younger cohorts of officers demand them and solutions such as the Samsung DeX platform are aggressively pursuing this opportunity to enable the security, ruggedness and usability needed for successful police agency smartphone deployments. Most importantly, the cost-based value proposition of the smartphone addresses the farleading mobility barrier for this sector.
