TSN Is the Future of Industrial Networking, But Who Will Take Us There?

by Jared Weiner, with Chris Rommel, July 2018

Though still in its infancy, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is widely considered the future of industrial networking.

TSN is a set of standards under the governance of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Standards Association intended to ensure the time-sensitive transmission of mission-critical data over Ethernet networks. TSN creates a framework that addresses the determinism and quality of service of Ethernet networks without weakening one of their strongest assets, interoperability.

This VDC View discusses the current ecosystem, key players, and the future of TSN.
