Yesterday, Samsung launched its newest rugged devices, the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, engineered for industries that demand reliable and durable technology. These devices build off the successes of previous models, such as the XCover6 Pro and Tab Active4 Pro, and include key upgrades that represent a step forward in processing power and battery life.

The Galaxy XCover7 Pro is a notable advancement over the previous model. With the inclusion of the Snapdragon 7635 chipset, the XCover7 Pro has a 19% improvement in single-core performance,15% better multi-core performance, as well as a 7% boost in GPU capabilities compared to its predecessor. This increases processing speeds and improves multitasking for workers who rely on rugged technology. The device supports 5G connectivity, including sub-6 and C-Band, alongside Wi-Fi 6E for quick and dependable communication, even in network congested settings like distribution centers and warehouses. The XCover7 Pro is MIL-STD 810H and IP68 certified, making it durable against drops from 1.5 meters, capable of water immersion for up to 30 minutes, and can withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C. Features like glove and wet-touch compatibility, Samsung’s Vision Booster for outdoor screen visibility, and its two programmable keys, make the device highly adaptable. Samsung also guarantees seven years of security updates and up to seven generations of OS upgrades (starting on Android 15), reducing the need for frequent device changes and increasing ROI.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, a 10.1” tablet, shares similar features with the XCover7Pro, but is optimized for tasks requiring a larger screen, such as mapping, diagnostics, or detailed inventory management. With a hot-swappable battery, users can exchange batteries without the device turning off, minimizing downtime. It also has DeX mode for desktop-like productivity, and NFC functionality, which is key for mobile point-of-sale transactions, ID verification, or asset tracking. The Tab Active5 Pro also includes customizable hardware keys to simplify daily operations and improve accessibility. Like the Galaxy XCover7 Pro, the tablet is also covered under Samsung’s extended lifecycle commitment.

The Samsung Knox program is a core piece of the device’s security framework. Both devices offer hardware and software protection, threat monitoring, and customizable policy controls to assist administrators with large device fleets. Samsung Knox AI also helps optimize security by detecting anomalies and enhancing device performance based on usage, which is essential in deployments where time is scarce.

These rugged devices can be valuable across a wide range of use cases. In transportation, Transporters can use the XCover7 Pro’s 5G connectivity to communicate while leveraging DeX mode for navigation and programmable keys for tailored user experiences. DeX mode is a valuable tool for many first responders, who require a desktop-like experience while on the move. In healthcare and emergency response, glove and wet-touch compatibility, hot-swappable batteries, and NFC-based ID scanning can be beneficial for medical records access, medication verification, and field operations. Retail customers continue to embrace Samsung’s rugged technology for mPOS, mobile inventory, and administrative tasks. Manufacturing teams are also adopting these devices for quick access to instructions, diagnostics, and use cases like plant-floor monitoring.

Samsung’s Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro show the company’s continued commitment to its rugged device portfolio. With powerful performance metrics, long-term support, and well-designed features, the new technology allows frontline workers across industries to stay connected and complete tasks productively.
