Panasonic Connect to Offer Honeywell Android Devices
Panasonic Connect North America, a division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, has been officially designated as an authorized distributor of Honeywell Android devices. This strategic- if unprecedented - partnership between Panasonic Connect and Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) carries significant implications for both companies, as well as the enterprises and public sector organizations that depend on their rugged mobile computing solutions.
Honeywell’s portfolio of rugged Android devices complements Panasonic’s TOUGHBOOK line of Windows-based laptops and 2-in-1 computers. Under this new agreement, Panasonic Connect will now distribute several of Honeywell’s successful Android solutions, including the Honeywell RT10A Rugged Tablet with 10.1-inch display, and the Honeywell CT47, a compact yet powerful rugged handheld built on Honeywell’s Mobility Edge™ platform. These devices are purpose-built for demanding environments such as warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, public safety, and field service.
In 2023, Panasonic made the strategic decision to exit the Android device market, discontinuing all Android-based offerings. By aligning with Honeywell, a leader in rugged Android devices, Panasonic can now offer an expanded range of solutions.
The partnership is mutually beneficial. Panasonic gains the ability to meet customer Android needs without investing in new product development. Meanwhile, Honeywell gains broader access to Panasonic’s extensive customer base across sectors like utilities, logistics, defense, and emergency services. Although the markets for rugged Android and rugged Windows devices are generally different, and few vendors have been successful across both eco-systems, the opportunity for Panasonic is market expansion.
