Director, Mobile & Wireless ResearchOverview
The Director, Mobile & Wireless Research is responsible for the management and execution of all of the practice’s syndicated and custom research programs. The Director will act as a player-coach, working directly with MAW Practice analysts and our clients to develop the project schedule and budgets, define the research instrument, develop an analysis plan and coordinate all communications, and actively contribute to the execution of projects. The Director is responsible for managing all project resources to ensure the quality, timeliness and accuracy of research deliverables. The Director reports to the practice Vice President and is typically involved with multiple concurrent research initiatives.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, implementation and execution of research projects
- Support the implementation and execution of select consulting projects
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
- Define project tasks and resource requirements
- Plan and schedule project timelines
- Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
- Provide direction and support to project team
- Actively participate in all phases of research execution
- Ensure high quality client deliverables
- Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
- Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Serve as the practice’s representative to other departments on matters related to research execution
- Dual player-coach role with approximately 50% of time managing projects and 50% executing projects

Education and Experience

- Proven experience in strategic planning
- Minimum of Bachelors Degree

Market Research AnalystsWe are looking for Market Research Analysts and Consultants to support its growing practices in:
- Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and RF-enabled Solutions
- Embedded Hardware & Systems
- Mobile and Wireless in Government Programs
We have open positions for Analysts, Senior Analysts and Practice Directors.
The responsibilities and key tasks associated with these positions include:
- Support the creation and execution of syndicated research published by VDC Research practices covering RFID, Mobile and Wireless, or Embedded Hardware & Systems.
- Provide VDC clients in the supplier and investor communities with strategic advice on RFID, Mobile & Wireless or Embedded Hardware & Systems technology, market, channel and partner development opportunities and requirements.
- Communicate VDC’s position on events and market developments through a number of traditional and new media channels managed by VDC and its partners.
- Develop and maintain your brand and the brands of your Practice and VDC Research through consistent high-value added contribution in public channels and under contract with clients.
- Develop and administer telephone and web surveys targeting technology suppliers, users and intermediaries.
- Provide marketing, business development and sales support by contributing to your research coverage roadmap, sales training, meetings and conference calls with prospective clients, and your own network.
Ideal candidates will have:
- BA/BS degree required; MA preferred.
- Working knowledge of specific technologies and/or markets listed above.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and experience.
- Ability to assimilate complex data sets, identify critical theme and implications, define creative strategy alternatives and actionable recommendations.
- Concise, polished written and oral business communication skills.
