User experience enhancements and tight application integration give vendors a competitive advantage

NATICK, MA | July 18, 2017
- Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) vendors have made their solutions an essential infrastructure element for the majority of enterprises where mobile workflows are business-critical, according to a new report by VDC Research (click here to find out more). Due to the expanding number and diversity of endpoints being managed, EMM vendors have embraced unified endpoint management (UEM) as the way forward.

Windows 10 Migration Initiatives Open Unified Endpoint Management Opportunity for EMM Vendors

VDC’s research explains that modern OSes such as Apple’s OS X and Microsoft’s Windows 10 have created an opportunity for EMM vendors to participate in the market for next-generation UEM solutions. “As Microsoft’s Windows 7 End of Life (EOL) approaches in 2020, Windows 10 migrations will accelerate and will serve as a catalyst that forces organizations to change their approach to managing endpoints,” said Eric Klein, Director of Enterprise Mobility and Connected Devices at VDC. The report indicates that user experience enhancements and tight application integration will be critical success factors for EMM vendors going forward.

“Security remains a key concern across all industries, particularly in highly-regulated and compliance-heavy industries,” said Klein. Security enhancements offer opportunities for differentiation for vendors, as their customers have a diverse set of requirements. “While some vendors are focused on strong authentication solutions, granular app-level policy controls, and network access control, others are more concerned with cloud security and encryption, he said.

This report contains a rating for the top 10 EMM vendors along three axes: breadth, depth, and intangibles. These ratings provide a holistic view of the factors most relevant to success or failure in the EMM market. The report also contains a detailed market sizing and forecast through 2021, as well as a comprehensive competitive assessment of market shares, strategies, products, and capabilities of leading players in the EMM market.
